Situated between West 11th and West 12th Streets, The Greenwich Lane is a multi-building residential development that combines the legacy of historic structures with contemporary design. The project transforms nearly an entire city block into a residential enclave centered around a private garden and thoughtfully integrated amenities.
The development includes five new mid-rise buildings and five townhouses. Designers preserved and repurposed select historic hospital structures, allowing the new architecture to respond to the distinct context of the West Village. Architecture & Design
FXCollaborative oversaw the architectural master plan, harmonizing new structures with preserved facades and respecting the Greenwich Village Historic District. The design seamlessly integrates a range of building types, including high-rise, mid-rise, and townhouse forms, while maintaining a consistent architectural language.
Interiors by Thomas O’Brien apply his signature blend of warmth and refinement. Residences emphasize natural materials, generous ceiling heights, and expansive proportions. Large windows, custom millwork, and thoughtful transitions between rooms refine the living experience.
A central courtyard designed by M. Paul Friedberg & Partners anchors the project. Within it, reflecting pools, birch-lined allées, and limestone benches recall the atmosphere of a village green. This shared space becomes a focal point for both privacy and community.
